[papercreters] Re: okay, so what about foundations? How to do that?

After thinking about foundations for a couple of days since my previous response on the topic, I remembered an outstanding document from the Oak Ridge National Laboratories.

http://www.ornl.gov/sci/roofs+walls/foundation/ORNL_CON-295.pdf

That link has been sitting in the Papercreters Links section under the "Your path to other interesting links
" folder. (To see the Papercreters links section, you must be logged in to your Yahoo account.)

That Oak Ridge document is excellent reading. It goes into great detail about a wide variety of foundation designs and addresses many interesting and important topics.

Many of the basic concepts discussed in that document can be applied to alternative foundation types. Even Rubble Trench, Gravel Filled Earthbag, and Tire foundations can benefit from many of the same waterproofing, insulation, drainage, and other strategies discussed in the document.

It is an excellent resource to have in your construction library.
